Otay Ranch High School’s annual fall play has been announced to take place Nov. 16, 17 and 18 with a matinee performance. The play’s auditions were held Sept. 5, 2017. The cast of the play, A Night of One Acts: The Restaurant, was decided with the help of Director Bernadette Siscon.

“The play is a series of ten one-act plays that all take place in a restaurant in NYC. We have a very crazy, wild cast of characters all dealing with various relationship issues,” said Siscon.

The cast was announced Sept. 8, and shortly after, rehearsals began.

“I am very excited, but at the same time, I am very sad. I get very nostalgic around this time because it’s around the time I did my first play here, and knowing that this is gonna be one of my last plays is bittersweet,” said Alexis Flores, ORHS senior and returning cast member.

Students like Flores and Jorge Del Prado Gamino have been in past plays, while students like Kailey Dexheimer also join in on the experience for the first time.

“It’s really exciting getting to be in the play because I’ve been wanting to do this for a really long time,” said Dexheimer. “It’s really nerve wracking when you’re doing it at first, but it’s really fun because everyone’s like a family.”

Siscon is the director, but also the new drama and theater production teacher.

“I have a very wide range of support,”  said Siscon. “My family has been incredibly supportive, my wonderful students like Rylee Start and Alyzza Lucena are a big help, and Mrs. Ma Suy is helping me with the logistics.”
